ℹ️ About the data
| Country | Shelters in the app | Data from |
|---|---|---|
| 🇳🇴 Norway | 556 public shelters, room for about 297,000 people | DSB via GeoNorge |
| 🇸🇪 Sweden | Over 63,000 shelters, room for almost 6.8 million people | Swedish Civil Defence Agency (MCF, formerly MSB) |
| 🇩🇰 Denmark | Over 23,000 buildings with shelter places, about 3.4 million places in total | BBR (Danish building register) |
| 🇪🇪 Estonia | Over 300 public shelters | Päästeamet (Estonian Rescue Board) via Maa-amet |
| 🇱🇹 Lithuania | Over 6,500 shelters, room for about 2 million people | PAGD (Fire and Rescue Department) via Geoportal.lt |
| 🇵🇱 Poland | About 82,000 shelter points | State Fire Service (PSP) via dane.gov.pl |
The kind of shelter differs from country to country. Norway’s data covers only public shelters, which are for everyone in the area. Danish shelters (sikringsrum) are mainly for the people who live or work in the building and may not be open to the public. Most of the Polish places are makeshift shelters such as basements, underground passages and garages, and the shelter card shows whether each one is open around the clock, on request or at set hours. Estonia and Poland don’t state capacity, so the app leaves those shelters out of the capacity figures.
