How does Magsense find studs? It uses your iPhone’s magnetometer. It detects iron and steel, not wood, so it finds studs through the screws and nails that hold the drywall to them. It works best on drywall over wood or metal studs.

I don’t get a signal. Slide the phone slowly and flat across the wall, with the sensor over the wall. Magsense shows where the sensor sits on your iPhone. Try high sensitivity, and move along the wall in a horizontal line, where the screws are.

Everything gives a signal. Remove magnetic cases, wallets and MagSafe accessories while you scan. Try low sensitivity. Pipes and cables with steel in them can also give a signal, so always check before you drill.

What does Magsense Pro add? The AR wall map, stud prediction (16" or 24", 400 or 600 mm on center), the hang planner for a TV, shelf or cabinet, the level line with height above the floor, saved walls, and sharing photos and plans. It’s a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

I bought Magsense Pro, but it’s still locked. Tap Restore purchase on the Magsense Pro screen or in Settings, under Pro. Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with.
